In 2017 my wife and I attended a wedding for which dresscode required the men to wear a tie. I personnally don't really like ties so my wife proposed a wooden bow-tie she saw at another wedding. So we searched to net and found a wooden bow-tie "hand-made in the Netherlands" (and available in wholesale at Alibaba.com). As I didn't find a lot of bow-ties that looked special to me ("les goûts et les couleurs ne se discutent pas") I came up with the idea to make my own designs. In our preferred relaxing spot in Samos, Greece, I designed the first three you can see in the first picture.
We asked the receptionist, Rania, where we could find some olive wood, cut in slices. Se was going to ask around. On our last day, right before departure (we thought she'd forgotten) she asked us to come along to her car. Her trunk was filled with olive branches from her father's orchard. So we took out a nice piece (that barely fit in our case). Back home I cut it in slices myself (yes I took care of my fingers) and had my designs lasered out. Afterwards they were sanded and varnished and finished with fabric and a black strap.
The fabric around these is the tartan from my wedding kilt so these three remain private, but I made some more in other types of wood and with some other varnishes for you to enjoy. I you would like a custom design, colour or fabric, don't hesitate to contact me.
Every bow-tie comes with a black box.
