Why kaiseri? Is it megalomainia because it refers to kaiser? The German word for emperor?
Not at all! The Kaiseri Neurergus is a salamander that has been discovered in 1952 by a guy named Smith in the southern Zagros Mountains in Iran. Due to its tiny range (it inhabits an area of less than 10 km2), continuing habitat loss, and the illegal capture of salamanders for the wild animal trade it is considered critically endangered.
For the moment they are being bred in captivity.
For one of my earlier etchings (also see www.bramhesp.be) I drew a salamander. I was so fond of this one that I used it as my logo.
When searching for a name for my company I started searching for salamanders on the Internet and came across one that looked very much like mine: the kaiseri neurergus.
Hence...kaiseri.
