Water-cut, folded and lacquered steel coat rack in two levels.
In the search of a unique coat rack for our new house I decided, after hours of searching the Internet, that it would be easier to create something myself.
This coat rack is the result. It now hangs in our entrance hall.
I have a small doodle book where I write down and draw my ideas: I drew two skylines based on fictional and existing buildings. Being not able to choose between them I decided to use both of them.
I traced both designs in Illustrator and made a paper prototype of 10cm.
After working out and prototyping the idea it only took a few weeks to execute it: the metal was watercut by L&D Jet Techniek in Diest and then plied and lacquered by MTF in Kiewit.
Because of the shadows it looks like a real skyline.
